New Orleans Mission President Don Cooper and his wife Lisa (left) celebrate Brandi’s graduation from the Women’s Center.

Thank you for your interest in the New Orleans Mission.

Hurricane Katrina turned life upside down for hundreds of thousands of people. The New Orleans Mission did not escape the storm. Our existing main building was badly damaged, as was our Women’s Refuge. The building we were planning to renovate into a Family Center was destroyed.

Thankfully, HomeAid and AmeriQuest Mortgage came to our rescue. Because of these two organizations, we were able to undertake a $400,000 renovation of our Women’s Refuge, which is now a modern, comfortable facility serving the needs of women in our community for transitional housing.

As soon as that project was finished, HomeAid and AmeriQuest began work on our new Family Center, which now would have to be constructed from the ground up. Thanks to the generous contributions from HomeAid and Ameriquest Mortgage, we will soon be opening the Family Center to women with children who are in need of shelter.

But just as the Mission’s operations were uprooted, so were the lives of many of our donors. As we return to fully staffing our existing facilities and look to staff a new one, we are faced with a donor list that has been cut in half. As we look to renovate and repair our main building, we pray for the funds needed to meet to meet the day-to-day costs of feeding and sheltering the homeless.

We need your help. We need your financial contributions. Every gift, no matter how small, helps us to provide food and shelter for the least fortunate of our community. So please give generously – your help is urgently needed.

Sincerely,
Don Cooper
