McGlinn was one of seven recipients chosen from nearly 150 nominees. The Saints recognized the award winners during the Dec. 23 contest at the Superdome against the Philadelphia Eagles and provided McGlinn with two field-level seats. The team also granted $1,000 to the New Orleans Mission on McGlinn’s behalf. McGlinn has coordinated a weekly brunch and Bible study for homeless clients at the mission since January 2007. She and her group of nearly 50 volunteers served an estimated 3,000 meals in 2007. In addition to the hot meal, her group also prepares sack lunches for clients to take when they leave and provide most of the food and supplies for each meal. Nearly every Saturday, her day off, McGlinn arrives at the mission by 9:30 a.m. Her service to the clients at the New Orleans Mission is spent outside the hours of her full-time job. To be eligible for the award, individuals over age 13 must have served in a volunteer capacity at an official 501(c)3 organization. More information on the award.
