Opened originally in 1989; the New Orleans Men’s Facility has served an integral part in helping rebuild the lives of New Orleans residents. Run solely on donations and grants, this facility offers help to men in need.
Discipleship Program
The Mission provides an intense, one-year discipleship program for men with substance abuse issues that begins after a 30-day evaluation. If a resident enters the program after the evaluation period, he must achieve specified goals during each of four, 90-day periods. Headed by Chaplain Joshua Meadows, this program offers support to men ready for a new beginning.
Transitional Work Program
The work program is ideal for men who experience a sudden financial crisis. It provides lodging and meals for up to four months to men with full-time employment. Participants save 70 percent of their income in order to regain financial security and obtain permanent housing.
Volunteer Program
Participants of the volunteer program receive lodging and meals while they work onsite at the New Orleans Mission. They gain valuable work experience while offering much needed assistance to the Mission’s staff. The volunteer program mainly consists of individuals searching for full-time employment, criminal re-entry and chronic homeless.
Overnight Shelter
The Mission provides shelter, meals and clothing on an emergency basis for up to 100 men per evening. Intake begins at 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and at 8 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
