The New Orleans Mission is active in the coalition to aid homeless Veterans.
There are many veterans that smoothly transition from active military service back to civilian employment and life. But for literally thousands more, it's a different story-stepping back onto American soil isn't the end of the battle for them. Instead, returning home means the beginning of another kind of battle: A battle for stability in housing, finances, physical & mental health, and support systems that can all too easily end in homelessness.
On a single night, out of the over 500,000 people experiencing homelessness, over 49000 of them are veterans. Almost 10% of those are women.
The New Orleans Mission continues to welcome in homeless veterans with open arms, and offer the critical support that is necessary for them to recover and transition back into the life that God intended for every one of us to have. The New Orleans Mission's programs holistically meet the mental, physical, social, and spiritual needs of the individuals that are served.
The New Orleans Mission serves homeless Veterans and offeres spiritual guidance, medical assistance, help with rebuilding basic life and social skills, employment training and placement, mental health and substance abuse counseling, and help with legal problems.
